Business welcomes Russian vote on Kyoto
22 October 2004
David Green, Chief Executive of the Council stated:
"When President Putin signs the Protocol it will be a vital step in creating the new markets for the wider use of sustainable energy technologies.
"Tony Blair's key role in securing Russian engagement on climate change should be recognised. His forthcoming focus of climate change in the G8 will create a new dynamic for the long-term agenda for action on climate change. The Council looks forward to working with him on this.
"Practical action by the USA and Australia to achieve significant carbon
savings are now needed along with a firm global commitment to take forward
action beyond the Kyoto Protocol."
