International Policy

The UKBCSE engages with international processes and conferences that raise key strategic issues for sustainable energy implementation: these provide an important context for UK policy, or a forum for the UK to demonstrate leadership.

The UKBCSE monitors the international climate negotiations convened under the auspices of the United Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC), and is currently working on the post-2012 debate; the council has also provided extensive input to the UK's Presidency of the G8 in 2005.

Prior to this, the council has been involved in sustainable energy policy at the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in August 2002, & it's outputs such as the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), and the Bonn International Conference on Renewable Energy in June 2004.
